Mary lived in a small village. One morning, her father took her to her uncle’s home in a town. She had a good time there.  Before Mary left in the morning, her uncle gave her a jar and said, “There’s some candy in it, you may put your hand into the jar and take some when you want to eat.”  Mary looked at the jar when she was on the train. It has a long and small neck. She put her hand into the jar and took one piece. After a while, she put her hand into the jar and wanted to take five pieces. But she couldn’t get her hand out. She turned her hand again and again. At last she let four pieces go off. Then she could pull her hand out of the jar.

Lychees grow in the south (南方) of China. They are small with red peel (果皮). Most people like to eat them, because they are sweet and full (充满的) of juice.  There is an old story about lychees. Yang Yuhuan loved lychees very much. Lychees have a lot of vitamin C. It is very important for people. Vitamin C can make children more healthy. So many parents often buy lychees for their children. Amy and her mum are in the fruit shop now. What fruit are they going to buy? Look! They are buying lychees.

The children will learn about Australia next week. They want to find out about this country before lessons.

There is a city in the world. It is the city of Venice. It is in Italy(意大利). People do not drive cars in that city. There are no streets in Venice. But there are canals(运河，水道). The canals look like streets. There is much water in those canals. In Venice people ride about the city in boats. Your father and mother go to work in a bus. In Venice, fathers and mothers go to work in a boat.

Ken and Jim are talking about the year 2055. "What's the world going to be like in the year 2055?" asks Ken. "No one knows what will happen, but it is interesting to guess." "I think, everyone is going to carry a pocket computer. The computer is going to give people the answers of all the problems. We are going to have telephones in our pockets, too. Perhaps we are going to talk to our friends all over the world. We are going to live and work under the sea or in space. People will build buildings, factories, schools and farms there, too." "Machines are going to do most of the work, and so people are going to have more holidays. They are going to fly to the moon by spaceship and have their holidays there."

Today is March 15^th. I put some flower seeds(种子) into a big pot. I water it, too. Now it’s in the sun. Today is April 1^st. I’m so excited. I can see a sprout(芽). It’s small and green. It’s so lovely. I water it again and put it in the sun. Today is April 15^th. My plant(植物)has two green leaves. I water it every day and make sure it gets lots of fun. Today is May 1^st. My plant is one month old! It’s tall and strong, but it has no flowers. Oh, come on! I can hardly wait!

The Great Wall of China is the longest wall in the world. It’s one of the most farmous buildings (建筑) in China’s history (历史). The Great Wall has a history of over (超过) two thousand years. It is about six thousand kilometres long. It took ( 花费) thousands of (成千上万) people many years to build it. So many people from China and other countries come to visit it. Let’s keep it clean and beautiful.
