Once there lived a wolf in the forest. Everyday he went up to look for food. There were many sheep and deer in the forest. They were all afraid of him.

One day the wolf saw a group of sheep. He tried to catch them to eat. The father sheep and mother sheep stood together to fight him. So the wolf could do nothing.

Later the sheep had a quarrel. They went away each. When the wolf saw this, he was happy. He caught them to eat one by one. At last he ate all the sheep.

Some monkeys are playing in a tree near a lake. They are having a good time. Suddenly a little monkey cries, “Look, the moon has dropped into the water!” “Get it out, hurry!” says an old monkey. The little monkey hangs from the tree by his tail. Then each monkey hangs from the other by his legs. At last they get to the water, but they still cannot scoop up(舀上来) the moon. Another little monkey finds half a gourd(葫芦)to scoop up the moon. He gets the moon in the gourd. At that time all the monkeys come for the moon. But the gourd drops and the moon is broken. The monkeys are very sad. But when they look up, they find the moon is still high up in the sky, shining bright.

Long long ago, in ancient China, there lived a farmer. He was worried that his seedlings (秧苗) grew too slowly.

One day, he went to the fields (田地) and pulled up the seedlings one by one. When he returned home, he was exhausted (筋疲力尽的). “I am tired out today,” he said to his family, “I helped the seedlings grow.”

His son was surprised. He hurried to the fields to see what had happened. It turned out that all the seedlings had shriveled up (枯萎).

The sun and the wind are arguing(争执).

The sun says, “I can make people take off their jackets. I am stronger than you.”The wind says, “No, I am stronger than you. I can blow. I can make people take off their jackets, too.”

A man goes out for a walk. He asks a tree, “How is the weather today? Is it hot outside?” “No. It is cold. It is windy,” the tree answers. The wind sees the man. He tries to blow the man's jacket off. “It's cold,” the man says. No matter(无论)how hard the wind blows, the man holds his jacket tightly(紧紧地).

The man goes out for a walk, again. He asks the tree, “How is the weather outside? Is it cold?” “No, It is sunny.” the tree answers. The sun sees the man. He shines strongly. “Oh. Its hot today.” the man says. He takes off his jacket.

The sun says to the wind, “Haha. I win. See! I am stronger than you.”

 One day an old man is taking a train to his hometown. One of his shoes falls onto the ground, but the train starts. He can not pick it up. Then he takes off the other and throws it near the fallen shoe. A boy beside his asks him ,“why do you do that?” He says, “If a man picks them up ,he may as well get a pair of shoes.”

Two young trees are standing at the top of a hill. Their names are Tim and Alan. One day, it's sunny and warm. Some birds are singing in the trees. The wind blows, and the trees are talking. “What do you want to be when you grow up?” asks Tim. “I'm not sure. I think I want to be a chair or a desk,” answers Alan, “Maybe I want to be a toy box. I like children.” “What do you want to be when you grow up?” asks Alan. “Me?” says Tim, “I just want to be a tree. I want to be a home for birds. I want to have many apples. And when it's sunny and hot, people and animals can stand under me.”

One hot afternoon, the old man was asleep in his chair. His monkey was sitting beside him. Suddenly the monkey found a mosquito (蚊子)  but he couldn't kill it. The monkey got so angry that he picked up a big stone. The monkey killed the mosquito, but it also broke the old man's nose.
