It was Thanksgiving morning. I was busy preparing the traditional Thanksgiving turkey when the doorbell rang. I opened the front door and saw two small children in rags（衣衫褴褛）on the top step.

"Any old papers，lady？" asked one of them.

I was busy. I wanted to say "no" until I looked down at their feet. They were wearing thin little sandals（凉鞋），wet with heavy snow.

"Come in and I'll make you a cup of hot coffee."

They walked in and sat down at the table. Their wet sandals left marks on the floor. I served them coffee and bread to fight against the cold outside. Then I went back to the kitchen and started cooking.

The silence in the front room struck me. I looked in. The girl held the empty cup in her hands，looking at it. The boy asked in a flat voice，"Lady，are you rich？"

"Am I rich？Pity，no！"

I looked at my worn-out slipcovers（家具套）.The girl put her cup back in its saucer（茶碟）carefully and said，"Your cups match your saucers." They left after that，holding their papers against the wind. They had reminded me that I had so much for which to be grateful.

Plain blue china cups and saucers were only worth five pence. But they matched.

I tasted the potatoes and stirred（搅动）the meat soup. Potatoes and brown meat soup，a roof over our heads，my man with a regular job，these matched，too.

I moved the chairs back from the fire and cleaned the living room. The muddy marks of the little sandals were still wet on my floor. Let them be for a while，I thought，just in case I should begin to forget how rich I was.

   The new study shows that we spend more time using the mobile Internet to read newspapers and magazines or do some other things. According to the Interactive Advertising Bureau（IAB），the average European spends 4.8 hours reading newspapers and magazines but 1.6 hours more using the mobile Internet per week.

The IAB questioned 15,000 people in 15 European countries, looking at how people were using the Internet and its influence on their everyday lives. It found that the mobile Internet is increasingly finding its way into the public awareness. Over 71 million Europeans now have Internet access on their mobile phones. In the UK, 10 million people now access the Internet through their mobile phones and spend 6.3 hours doing so per week averagely.

Unsurprisingly, young generations in the UK are leading the way, with nearly half of the country's 16-to 24-year-olds and a quarter of 25-to 34-year-olds using the Internet, spending 6.5 and 6.2 hours online each week.

Entertainment plays a main role in our mobile Internet lives，with one in five British people using their phones for online games，a third listening to the online radio and 39 percent watching films，TV or other videos at least once a week. One third of those using an Internet phone said they received videos，images or other multimedia on their mobile，and 61percent said they passed on the contents they had received.

From a communication point of view，80 percent of those questioned agreed that the Internet had made it easier for them to stay in touch with friends and family.

Alison Fennah，director of the IAB，said the use of the mobile Internet had come to the point that marketers should be looking to strategies（策略）that connect them with consumers more effectively. "Better tools as well as improved consumer motivation that start coming together in 2011 can make a great difference to extending the online experience，" Fennah said.

   As is known to all, nowadays many students are interested in studying abroad.

Attending schools abroad has many advantages. First, by looking at our own country from outside, we can best see the strong points and weak points of our nation and therefore broaden our minds. Second, while studying in a foreign country, we can travel widely, visiting famous scenic spots and making friends with the local people. Third, we can use the foreign language in our daily life so that our ability in that language may be improved quickly. But the most important is to learn advanced(先进的) science and technology. For all these advantages, it is really worthwhile to go abroad for education.

However, as everything has two sides, there are also some disadvantages in attending a foreign university. The most serious problem is the language barrier(障碍). Most of the students who are ready to go abroad do not prepare themselves well for the new language environment. As a result, on arriving there, they will find it difficult to understand what the instructors are saying in class. Besides, for not knowing about the customs and way of life of the local people, they may run into trouble in dealing with various situations. Therefore, misunderstandings foten arise. Furthermore, the cost of living is much higher than that in our country, so most students have to find part-time jobs in order to help support themselves. Faced with these difficulties, many students find themselves unable to pay full attention to their studies and some students may even fail in their courses and learn little.

Therefore, given an opportunity to attend a school abroad, one must consider the factors carefully before making up his mind. On the one hand, it is a good thing to go and study abroad. But on the other hand, one must not neglect(忽视) the disadvantages.

   I've come to the conclusion that I'm terrible at saying "No". For example，last Sunday I was sitting at my desk alone，totally ________ in my own business，when a colleague of mine phoned and asked me to get involved in ________ with her. I found myself getting all caught up in her enthusiasm and didn't want to ________ her. So I said "Sure，why not？" even before the talk ________

I found myself agreeing，without giving any ________ whether it was worth doing. We are both window-shoppers who go to shops but buy nothing and ________ a whole day in the street. Actually，I hardly have any time to spare because I am very busy ________  my normal job-I've also got a book to write，a business to ________ and a family to look after. And then there are my other projects to ________—my voluntary work and a couple of other interesting investments that I want to _________.I'm going to have to be more ruthless（残酷无情的）and not just agree to _________  people ask me to get involved in. We had better do what we think is right and what we are _________ to do. Sometimes it does not seem that bad to _________ others. I have a warm story to share with you. A school in San Francisco not only accepted a deaf student，but also 【小题1】（teach）the entire class sign language to allow them to better communicate with him.

The moving story began in September last year 【小题2】 a woman asked the primary school in her neighborhood 【小题3】（accept）her six-year-old son，James，who has a hearing 【小题4】（disable）.The teacher，Lily，agreed almost immediately，【小题5】 on the first day of school，she noticed James 【小题6】（sit）all by himself，unable to communicate with any of his classmates.

How to Stay in a Good Mood

It’s typical to feel your mood starting to become bad. If you want to be able to stay in a good mood, then you have to form these habits that will keep you feeling happy.

1. Don’t take love for granted.

If you’re lucky enough to have a serial someone, then you should make your time together meaningful. 【小题1】 Make time to spend time with your special someone. Being around a loved one has been proven to make people happier.

2. Get regular exercise.
