    何执中,字伯通。进士高第,调台、亳二州判官。亳数易守,政不治。曾巩至,颇欲振起之,顾诸僚无可仗信者,执中一见合意,事无纤钜,悉委以判决。有妖狱久不竟,株连浸寝多。执中讯诸囚,听其相与语,谓牛羊之角皆曰:“股”,扣其故,闭不肯言,而相视色变。执中曰:“是必为师张角讳耳。”即扣头引伏。知海盐县,为政识后先,邑人纪其十异。入为太学博士,以母忧去,寓苏州。端王即位,是为徽宗,超拜宝文阁待制,迁中书舍人、吏部尚书。四选案籍,吏多藏于家,以舞文取贿。执中请置库架阁,命官莅之,是后六曹皆仿其法。大观三年,遂代为尚书左丞,加特进。制下,太学诸生陈朝老诣阙上书曰:“及相执中,中外默然失望。执中碌碌庸质,初无过人,致位二府,亦已大幸,遽俾之经体赞元,是犹以蚊负山,多见其不胜任也。”疏奏不省,而眷注益异。初,赐第信陵坊,以为浅隘,更徙金顺坊甲第。建嘉会成功阁,帝亲书钜额以示宠。政和二年大长公主丧罢上元端门观灯执中言不宜以长主故阏众情愿特为徙日以昭与民同乐之意帝重逆其请为申五日期执中辅政一纪,年益高。他日造朝,命止赴六参起居,退治省事。明年,乃以太傅就第,许朝朔望,仪物廪稍,一切如居位时。其在政府,尝戒边吏勿生事,重改作,惜人材,宽民力。虽居富贵,未尝忘贫贱时。斥缗钱万置义庄,以赡宗族。卒,年七十四。帝即幸其家,以不及视其病为恨,辍视朝三日,赠太师,追封清源郡王,谥曰正献。
