The moment Aleeya opened her eyes from sleep, she knew it was Mom’s birthday. She _______ quickly and ran to the kitchen. There was no birthday _______. Then Aleeya went to the refrigerator, _______ its door and looked inside. There was no birthday cake in the refrigerator and no birthday cake _______.

She could not _______ that; she opened the door of the refrigerator again and put her head all the way in. Maybe there was a birthday cake _______ somewhere. But there was none, and she felt very _______. Just then she saw the apple butter-Mom’s ________! Aleeya took the jar of apple butter and ________ it on the table. She got a plate, a spoon, and a piece of bread. She opened the jar, took some apple butter and spread it on the bread the ________ Mom liked-not too thick, and evenly（均匀地）to the sides.

Aleeya became happy then and a gentle smile ________ over her face. It became bigger and bigger as she _____ to Mom’s room with the ________ bread. “Happy Birthday to Mom. Happy Birthday to Mom,” she _______.

Mom was ________. She took the plate and held her daughter in her arms.

“Pretend（假装）there are ________ ,” Aleeya said, “and blow them out.”

Mom closed her eyes and ________ a wish. Then she blew out the imaginary candles.

“Was it a good ________?” asked Aleeya.

“It was the best one ever in my life, my baby,”said Mom.

   One afternoon I had been driving down the freeway when I spotted what looked like a stalled (熄火)car. I _____ that other cars had slowed down in order to briefly look at the stalled car. I decided to _____ behind the car and find out what was going on. Suddenly, a pregnant woman stepped out, and she appeared to be _____.I approached the woman asking if I could _____ She said, “Please call my husband. I am trying to get to the _____ . I am about to give birth！” _____ as I was, I said, “ We have no _____ for that. Quick! Get in my car and I will _____ you.”

I tried to drive both quickly and steadily _____ my passenger would not move around a lot. I also tried offering a ______ talk on the way, like “Everything is going to be OK.” and “We’re almost there.” ______ , we met no obstacle all the way and arrived at the hospital in no time. It seemed a bit ______ to answer the staffs questions about her since we had just met a few minutes before and I ______ nothing about her besides her name.

11 minutes later her ______ came, out of breath. Upon seeing me, he thanked me and handed me a $ 100 bill. At that moment I ______ the SMILE card in my glove box. I walked out and ______ with it to the room where the woman had been settled. I told her that something ______ happened to me when my second child was born and we had a good laugh over the ______ .

   Summertime has always been my absolute favorite time of the year. When I was in school，I just lived for the long summer holidays when I could play with my friends and my sister all day at our ease. Everyone has different associations with summer. For some，they think of the smell of freshly cut grass，for some it's lying on a beach reading a book and for others it might be the taste of lemonade or ice cream. I am so happy to be spending this summer with my family and childhood friends here in the Highlands of Scotland after a year away in France.

One of my favorite things to do in summer is go to see the Highlands. These events happen all across the Highlands and Islands of Scotland over the summer and are a great chance for friends and families to get together and support the local community. A Highland Games event is a big gathering with food stalls（货摊），fair games for children and sports competitions. Many of the sports are very specific to Scottish tradition such as "caber toss". This is a competition in which the competitors attempt to lift a full-length tree log and throw it into the air. The oldest Highland Games of Scotland are now an iconic（象征性的）part of the Scottish summer.

Summer just would not be complete for me without my favorite fruit-strawberries. Here in the Highlands，strawberries are grown as one of the best-sellers over the summer months and one thing I love to do on a warm summer afternoon is to pick some strawberries to eat with cream at the end of the day. If you come here，I think you will fall in love with them.

I finished my junior middle school in a boarding school. At the first, I felt very lonely because I hardly know anybody. I couldn't get on well  with my classmates and just looked forward to go back home to meet my parents. I even couldn't concentrate my subjects. As time went by, besides, I gradually got used to the school life. I made many new friend and often took part in activities, in that I improved my communicating skills. As I had a lot of interesting things to do, I final enjoyed my school life. Now,whenever I think  of my first boarding  school experience, I think of them as being instructive and unforgettably.
