Dear Tom,

It's my honor to share my dream university to you. I'm glad to tell you that my dream university is Peking University, that is one of the best university in the world.

There are several reasons why I like Peking University. At first,it had first-class teachers and equipment, which will help me make the progress quickly. Secondly, it is famous for their positive academic atmosphere, where students study hardly to meet new challenges. But at last, my brother, who studies there, says he is very satisfying with the university.

It's not easy enter Peking University, but I think my dream will come true if I work hard. Could you tell me something about your dream university?

Yours,

Li Hua

If I were a boy again, I would practice perseverance more often, and never give up a thing because it was hard or inconvenient. 【小题1】“There are only two creatures,” says a proverb, “who can surmount(越过) the pyramids — the eagle and the snail.”
If I were a boy again, I would school myself into a habit of attention. I would let nothing come between me and the subject in hand. 【小题2】 The habit of attention becomes part of our life, if we begin early enough. I often hear grown-up people say, “I could not fix my attention on the lecture or book, although I wished to do so,” and the reason is, the habit was not formed in youth.
If I were a boy again, I would cultivate courage. “Nothing is so mild and gentle as courage, nothing so cruel and pitiless as cowardice (怯懦),” says a wise author. 【小题3】The fear of ill exceeds(超过) the ill we fear. Dangers will arise in any career, but presence of mind will often conquer the worst of them.【小题4】
If I were a boy again, I would look on the cheerful side. Life is very much like a mirror: if you smile upon it, it smiles back upon you; but if you frown and look doubtful on it, you will get a similar look in return. Inner sunshine warms not only the heart of the owner, but of all that come in contact with it.
【小题5】I might write pages on the importance of learning very early in life to gain that point where a young boy can stand straight and decline doing an unworthy act because it is unworthy.
Finally, instead of trying hard to be happy, as if that were the sole purpose of life, I would, if I were a boy again, try still harder to make others happy.
A.If we want light, we must conquer darkness.
B.If I were a boy again, I would school myself to say “No” oftener.
C.We too often borrow trouble, and expect that may never appear.
D.I would remember that a good skater never tries to skate in two directions at once.
E.If I were a boy again, I would demand of myself more courtesy towards my companions and friends and indeed towards strangers as well.
F.Perseverance can sometimes equal genius in its results.
G.Be prepared for any fate, and there is no harm to be feared.

Christmas was two days away. Had the packages with a camera in already been placed under the Christmas tree? That was the only thing that I had longed for. A million times I had kept dropping hints to my parents. Taking photos is my favorite. My bedroom walls are covered with photos I had taken with my mom’s old camera. I’m always trying to snap(抓拍) those wonderful moments in which you can hear the laughter or touch the beautiful scene, but my camera has always seemed to fall short.
I knew Mom had put a few presents under the tree this morning, so I went on a hunt in my mom’s room. I opened the door and found my Christmas present was lying unwrapped on the floor --- a big pink cat. My heart sank.
Mom seemed to notice that, and she tried to cheer me up. “Jenny, I got your present today. I am so excited to surprise you!” “I can’t wait,” I said.
The next day I couldn’t wait any longer. I needed to tell her.
“Mom, may I talk to you for a moment?”
“Sure, dear. What do you need to talk about?” she asked.
And so it came ---how upset I was that I was getting a cat!
“Jenny, that cat is for your sister Julia!” she said with a smile.
“Then what am I getting” I asked.
She just smiled. “You’ll have to wait and see.”
Next morning, I happily got into the living room and sat next to the tree. I pulled out the box with my name on it and opened the wrapping paper to find …
My camera! “Thank you!” I said to both Dad and Mom.
Dad picked up the camera and took a picture of Julia, Mom and me. It has become one of my favorite pictures. Just on that Christmas morning, I took lots of photos with my camera --- my little sister making a face, my parents giving me a soft smile --- and all of these photos have come to mean one thing to me: love.
