       我常常想起一个关于掌声的故事。
       那是我上高中一年级的时候，班里有位叫英子的女孩，她文静漂亮，但是总爱蜷缩在教室的一角。上课前，她早早就来到教室里，下课后，她总是最后一个离开教室。后来我们才知道，她的腿因为患小儿麻痹症而残疾了，她不愿意让人看到她走路的姿势。
       一天，上讲演课时，老师让同学们走上讲台讲述一个小故事。轮到英子讲演的时候，全班40多双眼睛一齐投向了那个角落，英子立刻把头低了下去。老师是刚调来的，还不了解英子的情况。
       英子犹豫了一会儿，慢慢地站了起来。我们注意到英子的眼圈儿红了。
       在全班同学的注视下，英子终于一摇一晃地走上了讲台。就在她刚刚站定的那一刻，不知是在谁的带动下，骤然间响起了一阵掌声，那掌声热烈、持久。
       掌声渐渐平息，英子也定了定情绪，开始讲述她童年的一个小故事。当她结束讲演的时候，班里又响起了一阵掌声。英子很有礼貌地向老师深鞠一躬，又向同学们深鞠一躬，然后，在掌声里一摇一晃地走下了讲台。
       奇怪的是，自从那次讲演以后，英子不再那么忧郁了，她和同学们一起玩游戏说笑。英子的学习成绩一直很好，尤其是数学和物理。高二那一年，她代表我们学校参加了全国奥林匹克数学竞赛，还获了奖。
       高中毕业后，英子被北京的一所大学破格录取。后来，英子给我来信说：“我永远不会忘记那一次掌声，因为它使我明白了，同学们并没有歧视我。我应该鼓起勇气面对生活，那次掌声给了我第二次生命……”
       我这才明白英子变得开朗活泼的原因。从那以后，我学会了用心去给别人鼓掌，尤其是当别人身处困境的时候。其实，人都是需要掌声的，我们既需要别人的肯定，也需要充分地肯定别人。在人生的舞台上，谁不希望自己的演出得到喝彩？掌声，是一种尊重，更是对一个生命的鼓励和肯定。

          What is your favorite color? Do you like yellow, orange, red? （1）____ Do you prefer grey and blue?
