Musical Acting: A musical act, The High Crest, will be performed from 6 to 8 P.M. on Friday, July 22^nd. The concert will be held outdoors on the library lawn and it is family-friendly. Blankets, lawn chairs, and picnics are encouraged!

Craft making: Make earth-friendly crafts from recycled materials from 3 to 4 P.M. on Wednesday, August 10^th. With guidance from a talented teacher, you will make new creations from everyday objects. Start recycle today, and bring objects to share with the group.

Smartphone Using: Join our Public Services Librarian at 11 A.M. on Monday, July 25^th, for an introduction to smartphone use. This small class is for beginners. Stone Designing: Paint your own garden stones with your own imagination! At 6 P.M. on Monday, August 8^th, Lisa Frasier will teach tips and skill for creating unique design on stones. All materials are provided, and registration is required.

明清之际，传教士在澳门设立医院，西医传入中国。康熙帝曾用西医治病，《红楼梦》中多有使用西药的描写。由于对西医科学缺乏了解，有关西医挖眼、剖心等谣传屡见不鲜

鸦片战争前后

美国传教士创办广州眼科医局（1835年），40年代后，西医逐渐在香港和通商口岸推广。同时，有关西医害人的谣言沸沸扬扬，魏源甚至记入《海国图志》

19世纪下半期

西医逐渐推广到沿海、沿江和广大的中国内地，被中国人认可，至90年代在中国确立起比较稳固的地位。郑观应认为西医总体上比中医高明的多（1894年）

20世纪初

严复、梁启超、胡适、陈独秀等人猛烈抨击中医，完全否定中医的科学性；恽铁憔等中医理论家奋起反击，形成中西医论争。1915年，北洋政府正式承认西医

20世纪30年代

废止中医呼声持续高涨，南京政府颁布《西医条例》（1930年）；中医界坚决抗争，国民政府颁布《中医条例》（1936年），承认中医的地位和作用
