Planning is good as it decides in details how we do what we want to do it. However, a plan bears no fruit without being actual carried out. My experience in the English speech contest last month was a case in point. A month before the event, I spent hours work out a schedule with my goals and practical steps. After that, I set out read widely for an inspired topic , wrote a speech, and practised my pronunciation with good public speech skills. I finally stood out as a first prize winner. I know why I achieved my success. It came from good planning but better practice.

Most people use the weekends to relax. 【小题1】 Because you’re on duty, you have to focus on your work seven days a week.

While you don’t have to be at your desk every minute of every day, weekends make you free to create your lifestyle so that you can get the most out of your busy schedule. Here are a few ways to make you more efficient both at work and in life during the weekends.

Don’t work 24/7. Though it’s important to think about your business on the weekend, you shouldn’t be working in the way you are during the week. 【小题2】 Instead, work on projects you enjoy or use the time to think about your business in a broader way.    Having a roommate can be one of the best experiences in college or, easily, one of the worst. It all depends on whether you have a good relationship with your roommate or not. Follow the advice to avoid the common mistakes that turn good roommate relationships bad.

◇ 【小题1】

Communication is key. If something happens, sit down with your roommate and have a face-to-face conversation. I’ve seen roommate relationships fall apart because something happens and instead of talking to each other, the two start complaining about their roommates behind their backs. 【小题2】

◇ Don’t expect to be best friends.

Some roommates become the best friends, and some don’t. Don’t put pressure on yourself or your roommate, especially when you first meet. 【小题3】 And if your roommate doesn’t end up being your best friend, don’t worry.

◇ Ask before you take.

This applies (适用) to food, clothes and anything else. If you want to keep a relationship going, show your roommate that you have respect for what is his or hers by asking first. 【小题4】

◇ Clean up after yourself.

This should be done without saying. Don’t be lazy. Or, at least, don’t bury your roommate in your clothes and garbage. Most people I’ve come across in college are dirty and untidy. 【小题5】 But putting your stuff in order will help you avoid conflict.

A.Talk things out.
B.Always be honest.
C.Even if you both agree to share everything, you should still ask.
D.So you need to think twice before you help your roommates out.
E.This creates nothing but embarrassing situations and unhappiness.
F.Remember, you’re trying making a new friend, not to frighten your roommate.
G.You don’t need to have all the time spent cleaning your room and keeping it organized.

With less than that, you may lack interest or motivation. 【小题2】 If you can reduce the stress and stay calm, you’ll have a better chance of succeeding.

Breathe out

Psychotherapist Tom suggests an effective yet simple relaxation technique: Slowly expel (排出) all the air from your lungs until there is nothing left and then count to 3 before taking the next breath normally. 【小题3】. The act of letting go of all the air lowers your shoulders and relaxes your muscles. When you are physically more relaxed, you will function better under pressure.

Keep healthy daily habits

Ensure that you are eating healthy foods. 【小题4】. Proper diet and rest may be all you need to reset your biological stress reactions to more manageable levels. In addition, regular exercise has been shown to reduce stress.

【小题5】

Regardless of how much pressure the other person is applying, or how much stress you feel, avoid reacting before you have had a chance to calmly consider what you think about the issue.
