He may still be young, but he has surprised many people! If you ask around, many will say that the music world has a new leader-the real king is Jay Chou.

As a child, Jay Chou was never good at school subjects, and when he didn’t get into any college, a lot of people predicted that he wouldn’t have much of a future in life. Growing up in a single-parent family, Jay lived a lonely childhood. Without many friends, he had a hobby of day-dreaming, and only stayed in his world of music. So how did Jay get into music? As a boy, he was always silent, and was thought to be retarded（智力迟钝的）.He couldn’t focus on math or science, and didn’t bother with his English homework.

But his mother noticed that the quiet, shy boy seemed quite active when he listened to the Western pop music. “He was sensitive to music before he could walk,” she said. His mother sent him to a piano school when he was four. And the kid could play. He practiced the piano very hard. He focused on the keys in a way that other children of his age focused on ice cream. With all the musical talent, it isn’t surprising that Jay started out as a songwriter. Since the age of sixteen, he has been writing songs for many of the most popular singers. Today, he has already writ-ten for some of the most popular Asian singers, including Coco Lee and Jacky Wu.

At first, his mom was always worried about his future, but he never did. “I know I still have music to depend on. I have a lot of confidence, and I’m so sure of myself,” he said.
