“Mum, I’m going to the park! ” Tyler said.
“Be careful!” said his mum. Tyler rode his bike to the park. It was one of his favourite places to go. The park looked pretty crowded. Some kids were playing. But the other kids took rubbish bags. They were picking up the rubbish.
Tyler stopped his bike. One of the kids was Lauren, a girl from his school.
“We’re cleaning up the park today,” she said. “Want to help?”
“No, I would rather not!” said Tyler.
Today was Saturday. He came to the park to have fun, not to work! Tyler rode his bike around the park. As he rode, he saw things he never saw before. There was lots of rubbish.
Tyler rode back to Lauren.
“I’ll help,” he said
Lauren smiled.
“Here,” she said. She gave him a bag. Tyler and the other kids cleaned for about an hour. When they finished, the park looked different.
Before Tyler left the park, he rode around it again. The tired boy looked here and there and didn’t see any rubbish. He rode back home with a big smile on his face.
He would always remember this Saturday.
