    “性格即命运”,这是舶来品。人的性格如何,确实影响着一个人的命运。但命运并不全然与性格相关。环境、条件、际遇有时比性格更能影响和决定人的命运。但一个人的性格对于人际环境、事业成败确实拥有不可小觑的强大影响力。

    性格在本质上是一种人生的特色,是个体生命区别于其他生命的一种标志。所以真正的人生是一种性格人生。世界上没有无性格的人,也没有性格相同的人,只有性格相近的人。就像树上的叶子,看似相同,其实不同。而性格的构成是人的气质、习惯行为方式、语言态度方式、脾气秉性等特点的综合外在表现,它具有相对的稳定性。说“江山易改,秉性难移”可能太绝对了,但只有在一个人身上相对稳定的那些东西才被称为性格。这“性”字有本性、习性的含义;而这“格”字既有品格也有定格的含义。因而,性格既反映人的本质的一个方面,又不与人的品质完全一致。比如有的人性格上看似温柔,但骨子里却很阴毒苛刻;有的人性格上看似暴戾,但心地却非常善良。性格是一种外在的表面的东西,性格的好坏本身,只是性格而已,并不能以此来判定一个人的品质优劣。

    因为性格具有相对稳定性、外在性的特征,所以对人的影响有时比品质的真实更大。人们在评价一个人时首先不是品质问题,而是看着你的感觉舒不舒服。更有许多交际是一次性的、短时期的,而人的品质的表露需要时间.所以,语言方式、态度、处事方式、个人习惯、喜恶等感情的表露,在很大程度上决定了他人对你的第一印象。即使在长期的人际生活中,性格也具有举足轻重的地位。

    性格的人际影响力大体上可以从三个方面来认识:

    性格的魅力。人的性格的人际魅力不在于相同,而在于不同。最有魅力的性格绝不是那种伪装、粉饰、压抑后的“标准”性格。一种真实的不掩饰的只属于你的,而不似他人的性格往往更能获得人际的引力。但这种人虽适合做朋友、当英雄,却很难成为领袖。

    性格的亲和力。“世俗标准”的性格尽管不具有个人魅力,但对大众具有亲和力。虽然这种人可能没人会成为他的朋友,他也永远不会是英雄,但却适合做领导。因为他会让人们觉得很舒服,至于他心里怎么想,人们倒不过多计较苛求。

    性格的破坏力。一切以自我为中心,处处不合时宜地显示自己,或者挖苦、打击、讽刺他人,无论对人际、对群体都有极大的破坏力,这种人只能是“孤家寡人”。这种人既不可做朋友,也不能当领导,也不会成为好下属。

    好在性格远非本质,性格也是会改变的。但应该改变的只是那令人不舒服的部分,而没有必要连同那份真实也抛掉,那就失去了自我。
