空城计

    街亭失守以后，诸葛亮一面命关兴、张苞领人马到武功山埋伏作为疑兵，一面派张翼带兵去修理剑阁，平整回川的道路，又秘密传令，叫全军暗暗收拾行装，准备撤退。

    诸葛亮调兵遣将，先带领五千兵马去西城运粮送草。忽然飞马送来消息，说司马懿带领大军十五万朝西城这边蜂拥而来。这时诸葛亮身边无大将，只有一班文官，所带的五千兵马，已分了一半去搬粮草，只剩下二千五百兵马留在城中，众文官听到这个消息，都吓得脸色发白。诸葛亮上城楼一看，果然尘土冲天，魏兵正分两路杀来。诸葛亮知道想走也来不及了，就对手下的人说：“你们都可以放心，魏兵不敢进城！”于是连忙传令下去，藏起所有的旗帜，禁止人们随便出入及大声说话，却把四面城门大开，每一个城门，用三十个军士装作老百姓，洒扫街道，倘若魏兵来到，不可乱动。诸葛亮自己则披上鹤毛大氅，戴了丝织头巾，带领两个童子坐在城楼上焚香弹琴。

    司马懿前军来到城下，见了如此模样，都不敢前进，连忙报告司马懿。司马懿笑着不肯相信，便下令停止行进，在马上远远观望，果然看见诸葛亮坐在城楼上，满面笑容，悠闲地弹琴。左面的童子手捧宝剑，右面的童子手拿麈尾。城门内外有二十多个百姓，低头洒扫，旁若无人。司马懿看了，心中大疑。回到军中，连忙传下命令，叫后军充当前锋，前军改作后军，向北面山路退去。司马昭说：“或许诸葛亮没兵，故意作出这样子，父亲为什么就要退兵？”司马懿说：“诸葛亮平生谨慎，从不冒险，如今大开城门，必有埋伏。我如果进兵，就要中他的计策。你等怎能知道！”于是，将两路兵马全部退去。

    诸葛亮见魏兵远去，拍手大笑起来。众官无不惊奇，便问诸葛亮：“司马懿是魏国名将，如今带了十五万大军到来，见了丞相，为何退得这样快？”诸葛亮说：“他料定我平生谨慎，决不冒险，见了如此模样，便怀疑会有埋伏，所以很快退走。我并非想要冒险，实在是不得已才决定如此。我们只有二千五百兵马，如果放弃城池逃走，必不能跑远，岂不被司马懿捉住？现在他们一定从北边的小路退走，我已让关兴、张苞在那里等候迎敌。”部下听了，都十分佩服。接着，诸葛亮下令叫西城百姓随军退往汉中，大队人马立即动身。不久，天水、安定、南安三郡的军民也陆续赶来了。
