There was once a tree. It was the biggest tree in the forest. However, the tree would never share its shadow (阴影) with any of the animals and wouldn't let them come anywhere near.
One year, the winter was terrible (令人不快的). And the tree, without its leaves, was going to die of cold. A little girl found the poor tree when she went to live with her grandma that winter. So she went to get a great scarf to warm the tree up. At that time, the Spirit (仙子) of the Forest appeared. She told the little girl why that tree was so lonely and why no one would help it. Even so, the girl decided to put the scarf on the tree.
The next spring, the tree learnt from the girl's kindness. When she sat next to it, the tree put itself down to give her shadow and let her keep away from the sun. The Spirit of the Forest saw this and went to tell all the animals. She told them that from then on they could get shadow from the tree, because it learnt a lesson. If there are more kind and generous humans around, the world will be a much better place to live in.
