渡河少年

    一条清澈的小河,一条泊在岸边的渡船。

    我立在船头,一身蓝色的衣服倒映在水里。船身开始晃动,船老大拿着一根竹筒上来了。一个背着书包的圆脸少年站在河埂上朝老人大声问:“老爹,没钱能上船吗?”

    老人正在弯腰解着缆绳,头也不抬:“没钱坐什么船,笑话!”竹篙一点,小船离岸而去。

    孩子像当头挨了一棒,孤零零地站在岸上。离得老远,我看见孩子两眼睁得溜圆,牙帮骨在不停地挫动,两道小刷子似的眉头紧紧地蹙在一起。忽然,他把衣裳一脱,连同书包擎在手中,“哧溜”一下滑进了河里。

    秋风秋水,他受得了吗?一股同情的潮水从我心上漫过,想喊,没喊出声。那孩子举着衣服、书包,踩着水,一摇一摆地向河当中游去,黝黑的脸蛋冻得乌青。撑船的老汉愣愣地望着,忽然大叫:“孩子,上船,快上船!”

    孩子好像没听见。

    船撑到孩子跟前,孩子使劲把头别过去。

    “上船吧——别冻坏了。”老人似乎在哀求,“钱一分也不要。”

    孩子不理他,依然向前划。落满彩霞的河水被孩子的臂膀切割成一块块五彩的锦缎,那手中的花格子衬衫像五彩的花瓣,黄黄的书包真像花瓣中的花蕊。

    好一朵开在浪花丛中的奇葩!好一个倔强的少年!

终于到了对岸,泥鳅一般蹿上了堤埂。阳光在他的脊背上滚动,像一条条刚出网的银鱼在蹦跳。他把衣裳一套,捡起书包,飞也似地跑了。河边的沙滩上,写下了一条长长的水线,像一条无限延长的省略号。

    后来,我打听到了,那孩子考取了对岸的中学,那天是开学的头一天。

    有趣的是,以后我每次过河,只要赶上学生上学放学,总会看到那个圆脸少年在河里游来游去,数年后,少年居然从这条河游进了大海,成了一名游泳健将。他给撑船老人来过一封信,称他是他的启蒙教练,要感谢他。

    可惜老人已长眠在河边的沙丘里,没看到这封信。
