2017年4月1日下午2点，吉林建筑大学的一名学生去学校后身驾校学车，发现一侧空地上被倾倒大量药品。该同学拍下图片（下图），并于4月5日7点34分通过微博爆料。4月5日10点，有记者来到位于长春市新城大街5088号的吉林建筑大学，在该校后身的荒地看到了堆放十余平方米的药品，约30种，感冒、止泻、痛风等治疗各类疾病药物齐全，当中还掺杂着一些保健食品。药品大多标注“OTC”字样，属于非处方药品。通过观察，这些药品全部为过期药物，有效期标注一般都在2016年3月份左右过期，最早的是2015年12月份过期。说起药品，更多的人首先想到的是治病救人，鲜有人会想到，如果处理不当，药品对环境产生的影响则有可能反过来威胁人们的身体健康。伴随着各类药品的广泛使用个，人们开始逐渐意识到，人类如今正面临着一个不容忽视的新型环境污染问题-药品环境污染。我国已成为世界上药品环境污染日益严重的国家。
