神秘的植物自燃

      ①在奥妙无穷的大自然中,常有一些植物会神秘的自燃,是什么原因让这些原本生长得很茁壮的植物突然化为一堆灰烬呢?

      ②在南美洲的大森林里,有一种名叫“看林人”的杜鹃树,花色金黄,枝干挺直。这种植物的花朵和茎叶里,饱含着具有挥发性的芳香油脂,当森林炎热干燥时,这种芳香油脂极易引火燃烧,酿成森林火灾,所以当地人又称它为“纵火花”。

      ③非洲赤道地区和欧洲的西班牙有一种自焚树。它材质优良,很受当地人喜爱。但当它长到十四五年时,树内就会分泌出许多低燃点的树脂。骄阳的照射,常常把树脂点燃,使自焚树变成巨大的火炬。一株大树只需1小时,即会连枝带叶化成一堆灰烬。

      ④1984年2月的一天,澳大利亚南部发生了上百起森林大火,吞没了近50万公顷的林地,烧死了成千上万的动物。这些突然爆发的大火是怎样引起的呢?科学家经过调查研究发现,这是由于森林中的桉树自燃引起的。原来,这年2月份的平均气温达40摄氏度以上,桉树分泌出比平时多几倍的易燃物质—香油精,再加上长时间干燥无雨,所以造成大片森林“自焚”。

      ⑤白鲜生长在我国新疆天山地区。春天一到,白鲜的花朵就渐渐变得鲜艳起来;到了夏季,更是越长越美丽、越长越成熟,终于结出丰硕的果实。然而,在炎热干燥的晴天,它却会突然起火燃烧,不长时间,一株白鲜便烧成了一堆灰烬。原来,白鲜的叶子含有醚,醚的燃点很低,在烈日的照射下,很快就会达到它的燃点。当白鲜的果实日趋成熟之际,醚的储量也几乎达到饱和程度,一旦遇上干燥的大晴天,再加上强烈的太阳光直晒,白鲜也就自燃了。

      ⑥此外,物体相互摩擦生电或静电感应,或山石反射聚集阳光,也能引起干枯的植物自燃。一般地说,每隔5~25年,森林会自燃一次。森林的自燃之火,不仅可以控制森林幼树生长的数量,而且能淘汰一些病树、枯枝,为森林中各种树木的快速成材提供适当的空间。著名的美国黄石国家公园里的森林,原来每隔20年都会自燃起火,但是该公园得到人工保护后,80年未发生火灾,导致森林生长缓慢,新生林减少。1988年的那场大火,不仅没有毁灭黄石国家公园,反而让黄石国家公园的森林更加充满了生机。
