      祥子呆呆的立在(茶馆)门外,看着这一老一少和那辆破车。老者一边走还一边说话,语声时高时低;路上的灯光与黑影,时明时暗。祥子听着,看着,心中感到一种从来没有过的难受。

      在他们身上,他似乎看到了自己的过去和将来!他向来没有轻易撒手过一个钱,现在他觉得很痛快,为这一老一少买了十个包子。直到已看不见了他们,他才又进到屋中。大家又说笑起来,他觉得发乱,会了茶钱,又走了出来,把车拉到电影园门外去等候曹先生。

      天真冷。空中浮着些灰沙,风似乎是在上面疾走,星星看不甚真,只有那几个大的,在空中微颤。地上并没有风,可是四下里发着寒气,车辙上已有几条冻裂的长缝子,土色灰白,和冰一样凉,一样坚硬。祥子在电影园外立了一会儿,已经觉出冷来,可是不愿再回到茶馆去。他要静静的独自想一想。那一老一少似乎把他的最大希望给打破——老者的车是自己的呀!自从他头一天拉车,他就决定买上自己的车,现在还是为这个志愿整天的苦奔;有了自己的车,他以为,就有了一切。哼,看看那个老头子!
