一棵斜长的榆树

    小河宽宽的。小河深深的。

    小河上没有桥，从来没有桥。所以，河两岸的动物们，也是没法来往的。

    小河旁边是一座森林，森林一直延伸到小河边上，最靠近小河的是一棵榆树。当它看到两岸的小动物们望着湍（tuān）急的流水叹气，互相费劲地打着手势交谈时，心里很难过。

    于是，榆树把身子尽量往前伸。

    慢慢地，慢慢地，榆树贴着水面长过去，成了一座桥，一座有生命的、绿色的桥。小松鼠、小刺猬、小白兔、还有獐、獾、鹿，在树干上跑来跑去，可热闹了。热天，树叶子为小动物们遮荫；冷天，树枝像栏杆，使大伙在风雪中过桥也不会发生危险。看到这一切，榆树开心地笑了。

    有一天，榆树抬起头来望望森林里的其他伙伴，他们都长得很高，很高，高得快碰上蓝天、白云了。

    可是榆树呢?又低又矮。他叹气了，他有点自卑了。

    这事让森林里的其他伙伴知道了，大伙哗哗地议论起来：“榆树大哥，今天的森林是明天的房梁、桥板、枕木。你在今天，就干了明天的事，这难道不值得羡慕和高兴吗?”
