马克思之墓(节选)

①在英国,可以见到许多名流的塑像,威灵顿、丘吉尔、司各特、牛顿等等。牛津大学的图书馆是某一个富豪捐赠的,图书馆门前就有一尊这个富豪的铜像。伦敦的某一个地铁站口甚至塑起了一尊福尔摩斯像。

②海德公园里矗立了一座金碧辉煌的纪念碑。这座纪念碑如此之高,以至于拍照时不得不用广角镜头。纪念碑纪念的是一个叫做阿尔伯特的男人。没有多少人知道他的生平事迹,他最为重要的身份是女王的丈夫。据说他去世之后,伤心的女王大约有七年的时间不理朝政。这座纪念碑应当是爱情和皇家财富的共同象征。

③其实,英国人更为热衷的是另一桩爱情纠葛——戴安娜王妃的故事。纪念戴安娜的活动至今不衰。戴安娜逝世的周年忌日,无数人自愿地献上了鲜花和花圈。海德公园几条主干道的路面上,不远的距离就钉有一面铜牌子——因为戴安娜曾经从这几条路上走过。人们爱戴戴安娜的原因不仅是她的美貌,更重要的是她的平民精神。她时常以王妃的身份从事多种慈善活动,她不在乎皇家装腔作势的清规戒律,也没有刻意将那一场举世瞩目的婚礼作为摆脱平民世界的仪式。

⑦前往拜谒马克思墓的时候才知道,马克思所安葬的海格特公墓已经私有化,一个毕生倡导公有制的思想家还是无法让他的葬身之地脱离旧世界。收购海格特公墓的是一个老妇人,她规定进入公墓必须交费。尤为苛刻的是,每带入一台照相机必须加付一个英镑。
