      李兰同学简介洋务运动,他说:“第二次鸦片战争后,清朝统治集团内部一些较为开明的官员,主张学习西方先进的生产技术和练兵方法,建设近代化国防,摆脱困境,维护清朝统治。这些官员被称为“洋务派”。洋务派在中央以奕䜣为代表,在地方以康有为、李鸿章、左宗棠、张之洞为代表。从19世纪60年代到90年代,他们先后以“自强”和“师夷长技”为口号,创办了一批近代军事工业、民用工业。其中,80年代中期还筹建了南洋、北洋和东海三支海军力量。在灾难深重的民族危机中,中国近代化艰难起步了。
       何东同学介绍了近代化探索的历程:中国在饱受列强欺凌、被迫开放的环境中不断进行着经济、政治和思想文化的变革,开始了近代化的艰难起步。史学界普遍认为,在1919年以前,中国近代化历程由学习西方的军事器物,到学习西方的政治制度,再到学习西方的思想文化,经历了三个阶段,在经济、政治、文化领域全面启动,并逐步深入展开。
