        没有树的院落,就像没有父亲的家,空荡荡的。我发现时,春天已到了。
        那些树,是父亲种的,就像我和姐姐,有着各自葳蕤的时光。岁月不居,姐姐已结婚生子,我也将在城市安家。如同那些树,我们终要长到分叉的年纪,然后分道扬镳。现在父亲卖掉它们,手刃了那段时光。他把钱全都交给我,刚好够买一间卧室。
        我买了新房,父亲卖掉心房。我顾不了这么多,一如父亲和家的衰落。在他面前,我总像个孩子般没用。父亲总有他的办法,哪怕我天文数字的房贷,他眼也不眨一下,淡淡对我说,你工作你的,我想办法。卖掉树,父亲去打工了。这是他全部的办法。他终于明白,那块地能养活全家,却补不了我的城市生活。虽然他谙熟农事,在田地里游刃有余,但到了城里,他就像迷途的孩子,不知所措。
        父亲走了,我回家收拾“残局”。树枝凌乱散落一地,乍绿还黄。枝桠上,叶芽迈着整齐的步子,正饱满地跑向春天,到我面前,却戛然而止。我把它们捡起、码齐、放好,就像收集那些弥足珍贵的往事。
        清理好树枝,接着是树根。树是齐根锯断的,硕大的伤口,像父亲的嘴在喊我。我虽然听不见,但从明灭的年轮里,我能认出那些逝水流年。枣树清瘦,是父亲给我种的,我嘴馋;桃树细腻,是父亲给母亲种的,母亲身体不好,桃树避邪;槐树匀称,是父亲给姐种的,姐喜欢吃槐花……哪一棵是父亲种给自己的呢?我仔细辨认,这些让他疼痛不已的树,竟没一棵是他给自己的。
        扒完树根,坐在寂寞的院落里,我有种被掏空的感觉。
        母亲喊我烧锅。如今家里只剩下母亲,我一回家,她就喊我做这做那。我知道她并不想我干多少,只想我在她面前,让家有些回音和气息。母亲做着饭,说落着父亲:是不是又跑丢了。也不打个电话。吵闹一辈子,她还是关心他。
        我拨通父亲的电话问,习惯吗?父亲不屑地说,有啥不习惯的,工地的活,比种庄稼容易,钢筋扎好,往地上一种,就会长出大楼……父亲变得很健谈。他总是这样,再艰难的事,也说得轻描淡写。
