When she was just 17 years old，Liz crashed into the back of a truck that was waiting to turn in a left-turn lane（车道）. The crash is a life-changing one for her. Because of the crash，she's blind in one eye，loses her sense of smell，loses some of her hearing，loses the ability to create tears，and she cannot fall asleep naturally.

“Initially，I thought I would not be defeated but clearly I was completely wrong. Apart from the medical problems，the hardest part about my life after the car accident was the fact that I was alone，”Liz said.“Everyone was away at college，but I wasn't. I couldn't drive or go to college. My friends who used to hang around with me were there for me at first，but after a while they stopped coming by.”

“I viewed her Facebook page，and she said on there: Can anybody please hang out with me today？I don't have any friends，”recalled Liz's mother，Betty.

In time, Liz and her mother teamed up with the US Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to make a video. They wanted to get the point across that texting and driving can have life-transforming consequences.

In the video Liz appealed to drivers not to text when driving. She admitted she was checking and sending messages via her phone when she crashed her car into the back of the truck.

“Don't text your loved ones when you know they' re driving,”said Liz's mother.“It can change their lives forever.”

“If you get a text, don't look at it,”Liz said.“It's not worth it.”

   Super-dad Alan Lawrence，a photographer from Utah，has posted some amazing photos of his son flying in the air.

Lawrence said his two-year-old _____ Wil was born with a terrible disease — Down Syndrome，_____Lawrence is determined that this won't _____ him back in life.

When Wil was little，he would lie on his stomach and _____ his arms and legs like he was flying. “It wasn't something any of my other _____ did. My family would always _____ that he was trying so hard that one day he would start _____ ，”Lawrence told USA TODAY.

He decided to make Wi's flight a _____ by using Photoshop to create images of Wil hovering（盘旋）_____ places the family had visited.

The series of ______ ，called“Wil Can Fly”，is part of a 2016 calendar，with half the earnings from sales donated to two Down Syndrome funds.“The series ______ a reminder that people with Down Syndrome can do ______ they set their minds to，”Lawrence said.

Though appearing happy，Alan admitted that he and his wife didn't always feel so ______.“After the doctor informed us that he had Down Syndrome，we had ______. We weren't quite sure what the ______ held for our family，and we were ______ and knew very little about what to expect.”

However，these fears soon ______ once Wil was born. Alan explained:“In the short two years since he ______ ，he has helped our family grow in ways we didn't realize we needed. Our family with Wil is happy.”

And now they' re on their way to ______ this love and knowledge, saying“We want to show the world that you can have a ______ life with a child with Down Syndrome.”

Due to better equipment，training and diet，the records in many sports have been broken，but recently，improvements 【小题1】 (begin）to slow down. Thus some experts predict a ceiling for many events.

In order to enhance 【小题2】 (perform), some athletes take the drugs which can get people more excited and 【小题3】 (energy) than in a normal situation and which are originally developed 【小题4】 (help) people with illnesses.  Taking these drugs is known as“doping”and 【小题5】 they improve performance, they also cause serious health problems in later life for those who abuse them.

The Olympic spirit — the spirit of competition which 【小题6】 (emphasise) taking part rather than winning — 【小题7】 (violate) by the desire to succeed at all costs so far. So the sports world does not tolerate doping as it is 【小题8】 fundamental form of cheating. However, it appears as if all efforts are 【小题9】 vain to athletes.
