There was once a large and fat woman. She had a small and thin husband. He worked in a big office and got his weekly pay every Friday evening.  As soon as he got home on Fridays, he had to give his wife all his money, and then his wife gave him back only enough to buy his lunch in the office every day.

One day the small man came home very happily. He hurried into the living room. His wife was listening to the radio and eating an apple there.

"You'll never guess what happened to me today, dear," he said. He waited for a few seconds and then said again.  "I won ten thousand dollars!" "That's wonderful!" shouted his wife happily.

   The kiwi lives only in New Zealand.  It is a very strange bird because it can not fly.

The kiwi is the same size as a chicken.  It has no wings or tail.  It doesn't have any feathers like other birds. It has hair on its body.  Its mouth is very long. It has two feet and each foot has four toes. Its mouth is very long.

A kiwi likes to have a lot of trees around it.  It sleeps during the day because the sunlight hurts its eyes.  It can smell things with its nose.  It is the only bird in the world that can smell things. The kiwi's eggs are very big.  There are only a few kiwis in New Zealand now. People never see them. The government says that people can't kill kiwis. New Zealanders want their kiwis to live.

   Mr. White and Mr. Black are good _____. They are deaf(聋的).
